Working and What Not…
I’ve discovered over the last couple of days, that I enjoy piddling around on little things. Whether it be reconstructing my destroyed website, or putting together a stupid little UI for a prototype at work, it amuses me.
I’m getting closer and closer to finally getting this all done. My projects should be up and rocking in the next few days and then from there, who knows. Maybe I’ll break the cycle of abandoned blogs and keep up on this one. Maybe I’ll start a Twitter account. The only thing about that is neither I nor anyone else in the world is that important to have my every little thought spewed out into the ether. Now, as a marketing tool I’m sure it’s phenomenal, but as a personal “what I had for dinner” and/or gripe about every little thing I see tool I just don’t see the point. But who knows, maybe I will join the twitteratti or whatever they call themselves
Pardon My Dust…
The history of my personal website is a long, drama filled one. More so than any personal website should ever be.
Back with my old host and domain provider, my url (derekglascock.com) was not on an automatic renewal system. It lapsed for a few days and was purchased by some Swedish group that put up very adult content using my domain. This was horribly embarrassing if anyone were to ever Google my name.
Once I got my domain back, I switched hosts and put up a rather nice Joomla site that had my portfolio and all kinds of cool information. Recently when I went to update my site (something I don’t do nearly as often as I would like) I was mortified to find that it had been hacked by a Portuguese or Brazilian hacking team that put up some propaganda. I really don’t understand why, but it wasn’t what I would consider an ideal situation. Unwilling and unable to pay the $100 for my host to kindly roll back my site to a previous state, I decided to burn it down and start fresh again.
So please hold on tight for new content and a new layout. I fully expect that this iteration of the site will cause some sort of global disaster.
